Classic Pleasure

Can anyone tell me why Classic Pleasure is only open to amateurs? Since Amateur and AOTS classes are available in all other divisions, why don’t they just do the same for Classic? Or eliminate this division. It seems kind of silly that there are 3 “levels” of saddle seat riding and only one for hunter and western.
Colored Morgans

Ok, I know I could be opening up a can of worms here, but I’ve been wondering lately about the colored Morgans (as in the dilute colors, not necessarily the high white). There seems to be a “stigma” around them as being hunter/western horses, but the stigma also seems to hold true and I’m curious as to why. Bays and Chestnuts go in all divisions, so what is it about adding a dilute gene that seems to limit the horse in the categories it shows in? Is it the origin of those genes? Are they coming from lines that naturally tend toward that? Is it the type of person who’s attracted to those colors tending to want that kind of horse? Is it the because of the stigma (which probably originates from dilute genes being more prevalent in stock horses), folks just pigeonhole these horses into what they expect of them?
Does anyone know of any coloreds (I feel racist saying that, haha) having success in saddle seat divisions? Am I just out of the loop?

Can a horse safely hang his head out of a window (no glass, either sliding or swing) over the tailboard in a stall?
First Harness classes
Author: KnightRhyderMay 27
I will be showing my new mare in Classic Pleasure driving in July. She has been started in harness and shown extensively undersaddle but this will be her debut in harness in a show situation. She has a great mind and is very quiet. Can you give me any advice on what to do once I get to the show grounds? Should I warm her up in the long lines only? The warm up on Friday night is quiet hectic and I have seen other exhibitors take their driving horses in with only the lines….. Thanks in advance!

Anyone have any experience with these saddles? Would they be good lesson saddles? http://www.sstack.com/english_arabian-equipment_cutback-saddlespads/pinnacle-elegante-show-saddle/
Pasture Time

Do any of you with padded Saddle Seat horses turn them out in a pasture during show season? If so how big is the pasture? What kind of leg/foot protection do you use? If you do not turn your horses out for a period during the day what do you do instead?
Show Shoes
Author: RaeOfLightMay 7
In the recent discussion about the costs associated with going to Grand National, there was a mention of changing the shoeing package on a horse to make it more competitive. All my life I’ve been a western/hunt rider, so I’m not very familiar with saddle seat shoeing, other than knowing there’s more to it than a simple pad/plate. Why would changing the package make a horse more competitive? Is it just the fact of a change having been made pulls the horse out of it’s “normal” routine (a certain level of stimulus)? Or would it be that you’d make a change that actually improves the horses motion? If it’s the latter, why would you not just show the horse with that package all season?
I’m sure there’s probably more to it than I realize. And it may not be such a simple answer. But I’d love to know more about the why/what/how behind saddle seat shoeing. It’s a mystery to me. What’s behind the curtain?
