I am 14 years old, and I have been showing and riding Morgans for 7 years. I own the Western Eq horse Genuine Jade, who I also show in Hunt Seat Eq and Trail. I go to Nationals every year, and in 2008 I was 4th in the Western Seat Junior Equitation with a first place vote- which I still can't believe! We were also reserve in Trail Junior Exhibitor Finals. :D

Western Hand Position

I have seen some riders with their hands below the saddle horn & some with it above. What is more appropriate for equitation? Hand above the saddle horn? Or below & to the side a bit?
