APR Charming Choice

Hey all!

Looking for some information on this mare. She was rescued and the rescuer is trying to find her previous owners or any information on the mare. The young lady was able to contact the original breeders of April, but as far as April’s last owners she has found very little.

Well thanks you all for any help! I figured here besides AMHA would be the best place to ask. Thanks!

How Did It Go?

My life is always busy and new things to do, but I do check up on here as much as I can. Recently I saw the thread about Tim O’ Gorman and the auction put on for him. I was wondering if anyone had the results of that auction? How did it go, did things sell, etc?

Especially how is Tim and his family doing? Granted maybe a little personal, but just thought I would ask as there was such an outpour of help; which I must admit makes me very happy to be in the Morgan beed.

Well that’s it. Hope everyone is doing well and looking forward to hearing great news from everyone! Take care.

Roadtrip!

Hi Guys and Gals,

August 12 my Mom, sis, and I will be roadtripping! Going to see some family kind of a spur of the moment and emergency thing. But on the way back we will have time to stop and look around. Horsey person that I am, I would LOVE to stop and see the different farms along the way. I did pull up the ‘Farm Finder’ on the MorganHorse site. There are a LOT of farms to choose from. Many I am not familier with, some I am. So I was hoping to have some help and narrow things down. Granted OKC is coming up and some trainers or farms may not want to be bothered. I can totally understand.

Well, here are the states we will be passing through- Pennysylvania, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Missouri, Oklahoma, top of Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona.

Places I know I would like to see- PN: Horne Farm, Scottfield, Broadmoor OH: Copper Beech, Vantage Point, Cedar Creek Farm IN: Triumph Stables MO: Silver Maple, Windenhill

All in all I think that is it. Any questions let me know. Thanks for the help!

Sincerely,
Empressive

Futurity Horse Farms

Hi Everybody!

I have heard that the “Futurity Farm” in california is up and running again. Is this the same Futurity Farm that dispersed all of it’s Morgans back in the 90’s?  Sorry for being a lamebrain I was  just curious considering I have a Futurity bred mare. Plus I may be heading up that way and if this is the same Farm would love to stop by. Of course with notice. LOL  Anywhoo! Thanks everyone!

Sincerely,
ME

Tux colors

Hey everyone,

I had the opportunity to go by a consignment store and I bought a saddleseat tux. It is navy blue with burgandy lapels and stripes on the pants. I this OK for the saddleseat classes? Or should I just have a black tux? Sticking out is fun when there are “Ohhhs and Ahhhs”. Not outbursts of laughter.

Thanks

Together

Hey all!

Just wondering…

(Since peppermints and standing horses out go so well TOGETHER ;)

is it OK to have peppermints in the showring? To actually give a horse peppermints in the showring? Also, I have noticed that when standing horses out many have the horses necks upright and back into the shoulder instead of stretched out? I have noticed this with short-necked and long-necked horses. Is there any reasoning behind this? Or is it simply preferance? Plus when moving on the rail should the horse collect it’s head as under saddle or should the horse be allowed free movement?

Thanks!

FLIES

Yuck nasty little buggers!

Still do not know how they “fit” into the whole ecosystem thing. Let alone how they help anything! :(

SO for those of us having to deal with these minute pests, what kind of fly spray or mix do you use?

Heck, turn it this way… what is working this year? I pulled out a bottle of spray that I had used last year that worked well and it hasn’t scared off a single fly.

My shoer said he uses a mix of Broncho, Piranha, and vinegar. Blah, it doesn’t taste good. I know that much.

Don’t ask I know TMI.

Well thanks!

Shoes!

So a thought came to me today (like so many do) and I started wondering about shoes.

Horse shoes mainly the shoe shoes. Now I have seen them in many classes ranging form Park to Western, in many different lengths.

I was wondering what the normal lengths are for In-Hand. And what are weights? I have heard of weighting the horses shoe, but caulking does not weigh a lot. So? Where besides the shoe would the weight come from? Granted there are many In-Hand classes, but I mean mainly the conformation In-Hand classes not the specialized ones.

Also is there anything I should look for in a shoer? Or look out for in his work?

Thanks! XD
