Late foaling

Anyone else out there having late foaling this year?  I am still waiting for Starlet to pop and she is overdue.  Our vet says that many horses are running weeks late this year.

Yes, our neighbor just had a buckskin paint filly. Precious little thing, but a couple of weeks late. I know of two other mare who foaled out this year and both were only a few days late.

I haven’t heard anyone else having late foalings. I do know of a few mares who were bred late last year and expecting even into August. That’s it though.

The mare we have here was about a month overdue and friends of ours had two mares go over by two weeks (then both mares foaled less than twelve hours apart).

Though all three were pasture bred, so there would be a little wiggle room on breeding dates.

I don’t know what it is about the weather or the alignment of the stars this spring but all of my clients mares have gone late, some almost a month late. So far so good with all the foals being healthy and normal. Our own foal was 2 weeks late and other than a bad case of windswept hind legs has been fine.
