EHV-1 Outbreak

Many of you are probably already aware of this, but for those who haven’t heard there has been an outbreak of the EHV-1 virus.  From a quick web search I haven’t been able to find specifics on how many horses have been affected and what areas of the country, although it seems to have originated from a Canadian horse that participated in a cutting competition in Utah. A few good resources I were able to find was an article on TheHorse.com, and a Facebook post from Top Hatt Equine Center in Wyoming.

If anyone else knows more details of this outbreak or where to find more comprehensive information please let me know. I know at least one show, the Breeder’s Invitational, a cutting event in Tulsa, has been indefinitely postponed as a result of this outbreak. I also remember seeing an article a few days ago advising horse owners to not transport their horses for the time being, although I can’t remember now where I saw that.
