New York State Morgan Horse Society -NY Central Show (formerly the NYSMHS Amateur Show).

The NYSMHS offers a ”new” show for your consideration in 2011, The Central NY Show, as a replacement for the former NYSMHS’ Amateur Show.  The Central NY Show maintains the same exhibitor focused, family friendly event, while expanding its class offerings to include an Opportunity/Open division, as well as a Dressage division.  It is a USEF “A” rated show.

Located on the beautiful Chemung County Fairgrounds, Horseheads, NY, the show is easily reached by I-86.  The shows dates; June 11-12, 2011 are well placed for Junior Exhibitors to avoid conflict with the NYS Regents Examination schedule,  beginning after June 15, and the school closing schedules of neighboring states.

The show’s officials include:  Judges:  Annette Smith,  Delta, Ohio (In-Hand, Walk-Trot, WP, Park, EP, Cl. P, HP, Equitation, AMHA Medal, Driving, Opp/Open, Carriage) and Valerie Knight, Walworth, NY (Dressage).  USEF Steward: Naomi Blumenthal.  Ring Master:  Joseph Virgo.  Photographer:  Tracey Kelsey.  Additional information regarding hotel package/photographer information/fairground offerings will be posted as “updates” on the web site and Abovelevel

The  inclusion of an Opportunity/Open division required a name change under USEF rules.  Because of the changes made to the show’s format, trainers will now be able to show in the Opportunity/Open division, and enter the show ring.  The heart of the show remains an Amateur focused event.  Eight Amateur Performance Championships will each offer a $100 purse to be divided among the top five entries.  Four, In-Hand Championships will each offer a $75 purse to be divided between the Champion and Reserve.

The Saturday night “Exhibitor’s Party” will now be provided at no cost to exhibitors through the generosity of the show’s sponsors.  Under the guidelines of “Animals helping other Animals”, the show’s committee  selected the Chemung County Humane/SPCA has its charity.  The Chemung County Humane/SPCA will be on site during the two day event with information regarding current animal rescue and education programs, and animals that are now eligible for adoption.  A “fifty-fifty” and silent auction will be offered as fund-raising activities for the Humane Society/SPCA.

The show’s committee under the direction of Mari Neidlinger, look forward to hosting you on June 11-12, and welcome inquiries on the exhibitor offerings that are being put in place for your benefit.  The committee’s stated mission is to create “The Show with more ‘bang’ for the exhibitor’s buck.”
