Does anyone recall who did the videos at Gold Cup?

Saddle for Sale and Info Wanted!

I have a 19″ Borelli cutback saddle for sale. Surprisingly nice leather, brand new and show quality. If you would like pictures, email me at bethany.towne@yahoo.com. Asking $500 – make an offer!

Also- does anyone have information on the stallion Black Tuxedo By Armani? I have a filly sired by him, and she was originally bought at the Mid-A Breeder’s Auction. I have looked and looked for information but have not found much at all.

Thanks so much!

Blankets

I have a couple of Weatherbeeta winter blankets for my horse and I like them. So I bought him a Weatherbeeta turnout sheet, but it fits awkwardly around the neck. It looks like it’s putting pressure on his withers, but if I loosen the chest buckles, it just seems to be too loose around the shoulders and doesn’t really seem to alleviate the pressure on his withers. I guess they’re designed more for a QH body type.

Has anyone found a good, waterproof turnout sheet for more upheaded or high-withered horses?

Tim O’Gorman

I’ve just been informed that Tim O’Gorman passed away peacefully last night in his sleep.  This is all I know at this time.

I can understand if his loved ones would prefer to go through this quietly, but if anyone has information on where to send cards, flowers, etc, I’m sure there are many folks out there who would like to express their condolences.

I never had the pleasure of meeting Tim.  But if anyone out there has fond or fun memories of him this would be a great place to share them.

Romel Reins Ounce Size

Hello,

I am looking to purchase a set of Romel Reins for showing. I see there are different weights of ounces ranging from 20 ounces to 39.9 ounces. What is the most common and appropriate ounce Romel Reins for showing? Should the same ounce Romel Rein be used in training also? I am seeing many of the training romel reins in the 36-39.0 ounce range.

Thanks!

Barb

Magazines & a Thank You

First, thank you for your great suggestions on finding a great Morgan in my price range (I posted a week ago about this). I have a few great options that I’m looking into for the early Spring…wish me luck :) .

Second, I was cleaning out my closets the other day and I have a huge stack of “Morgan Horse” and “Morgan Connection” magazines. I hate to toss them out *recycle*, but they’re just sitting in the closet taking up space. I figure I’ll offer them here and on Craigslist or maybe E-Bay. Anyway, I have all from 2007, 2008, 2009 and a few from 1997 and/or 1998, 2003, 2004 and one or two from the eighties even. They are free, but I’d hope to atleast get s&h if I have to ship them. I live in Haslett, MI. so someone could pick them up too.

It’s worth a try I guess – - -

Cochran Auction

For those out there who weren’t able to make it, I felt like it was a decent auction this year.  I’m told better quality horses this year than last.  There were 5 horses added to the catalog;

Raintree Let’s Dance (Born to Boogie x FCF Dearest Illusion) – 1998 Bay Mare
D Bar J Zachariah (Strut’n Star Time x D Bar J Chebar) – 1999 Black Gelding
FRF Fireworks (DBA Street Talk x BNF Kirsten) – 2007 Chestnut Stallion
BNB Under (Roadshow St Patrick x Eclectic Serenade) – Duress – 2000 Bay Mare
GFF Special Illusions (Nobility x Briza Morgan Le Fay) – 1993 Chestnut Mare
Faircrest Opening Night (Century Nightmusic x Hylee’s Diamond Fantasy) – 2007 Bay Gelding

#34 was replaced with a 2007 Ultra’s Special Agent filly, but I didn’t catch the name of the horse.

There were also a number of scratches from the original catalog;

#9 – LR Amie Creme Caramel
#11 – Ultra’s Top of the Morning
#14 – Unapologetic (I had been looking forward to seeing this filly)
#19 – Hylee’s Dawn’s Echo
#14 – Tre’s No Explanation (another I had been interested in seeing)
#28 – Wendigo Lord Baden Powell
#31 – Wind-Blue Aviator
#32 – Uninhibited
#35 – SPR Margarita
#40 – Intermezzo
#41 – AW Midnight Oasis
#45 – LR Ami High Five
#48 – SPR Legend
#49 – Hollybrook Now Hear This

A few of my favorites;

#20 – Graywoods Beloved Answer – A very nice spicy mare, supposedly rideable, but I would peg her calling as a broodmare.
#25 – Century Mardi Gras – This was a NICE show gelding.  Looked level-headed enough to carry an amateur/jr exhibitor, but nice enough to stay with a rider up through the ranks.  This gelding made me wish I was shopping for a show horse.
#36 – Only Forever – This was a nice mare who sold for a song.  If I had had a way to get her somewhere from the auction grounds I would have bid on this mare.
#50 – Dantree Jacquelyn – I did not expect much from this mare based on her picture, but she went through under saddle looking very nice.  Another one who made me wish I was bidding on a show horse.

I tried to take notes on prices for myself, but I did get distracted a few times.  Looks like I have 8(?) horses marked as no sales.

Isn’t it rather quiet on here lately?  Doesn’t anyone have anything to say about Nationals?  Did you have fun?  Was it what you expected, hoped for, dreamed of?

Carole L. Mercer and her Dancing Morgans , the Most Versatile Morgan Mares in the World, have been selected by the Alltech FEI WEG committee to perform at the Equine Village in 2010. Carole and her beautiful Morgan Mares will be at the Games from October 7-10th 2010.

Carole needs some help. She and the horses need places to stay overnight along “Hiway 80″ going to Kentucky. She also needs places to stay on the way back.

Carole will be delighted to entertain their overnight host and friends in exchange for the overnight stay.

The TRUCK and TRAILER are the size of a semi truck. The total length is 48 feet long. Carole needs that 40 acres to turn that rig around. She needs easy road IN and OUT . The horses need a safe paddock for a couple of hours turn out and then a couple of stalls for overnight. Carole will provide her own hay.

Now that the horses are cared for….Carole needs a place to plug in the living quarters horse trailer overnight. If you know of anyone who can help her out, please let Carole know.

Carole is also selling miles to reach Kentucky. She is sell miles for $5.00 per mile to achieve her goal. It is about 2500 miles one way from Eagle Point , Oregon to Lexington , Kentucky. You can send her the money and she will send you a receipt . Let her know what mile you want to purchase.

Carole has no cell phone. Remember, she lives out on a ranch in Eagle Point , Oregon and lives in a “dead zone”. Her computer is “dial up” so keep the messages small.

Having the two of the  most versatile Morgan Mares in the World, represented at the Alltech FEI WEGames is a huge honor. The Morgan Horse is the ORGINAL Amercian  Horse. Carole L. Mercer and her Dancing Morgans were selected by the WEG committee out of many applications .

This all girl team is honored and proud to represent the versatility of the Morgan Breed. Carole is more than honored to have your help in any way.

Carole L. Mercer and the Dancing Morgans are independant from the American Morgan Horse Association. They are NOT part of the Morgan Idol Program and are not in any way affilated with the AMHA.

Long winded post about me :)

After 11  years of not owning my own horse, I am finally gearing up to take the plunge and buy a horse. I am hoping to make this purchase in early spring/late winter of 2010, but in the meantime am searching my heart out. I am on a huge budget as far as purchase price. I know it’s ridiculous, but I’m trying to spend no more than $2,000. I completely realize that this price point is low, but a girl can try, right?

As I’ve searched I have found tons and tons and tons of Quarter horses well below my price range, but Morgans all seem to be priced quite high. Even poorly conformed Morgans that I’d never consider for any price are priced high. Interesting – but I digress. What I’d like is a gelding/mare aged 1 year to 12.  Ideally, I’d want a younger horse that I can train and work with for a few years before hitting the shows (if I can even afford a show quality prospect in a Morgan).

I may end up just getting a good old solid AQHA just for the sake of having a horse to ride, but I’d like to have a Morgan, ’cause that’s what I love! Please keep your eyes and ears open for me

P.S. I am also looking for a boarding barn/stable  near Lansing Michigan for under $300.00 a month, if anyone knows of anything! My e-mail is jennybean79@gmail.com  ~ Thanks!
