I have wanted to post something on this blog for a long time! So here goes, I have a 6 year old mare who hates flies and mosquitoes. We have had a really wet summer here in New York and we have really good supply of these little blood suckers! So does anyone have a really good fly spray or a recipe for it? We have not had a good ride since about 2 weeks ago because of these little problems. Thanks

Helmet rule
Author: JenniferAug 28
Since the non-traditional breech thread is getting a little long, lets start a new one!
Leslie wrote “At the risk of going completely off-topic, this is the next sentence in the rule book:
“Conservative colored protective headgear with harness in accordance with GR801.3 is mandatory.”
GR 801.3 is the one that says all jr. exhibitors in hunter, jumper, or hunt seat eq. must wear ASTM/SEI helmets when mounted. That’s certainly not happening at the Morgan shows. Are the stewards just not doing their jobs, or am I missing something?”

Treble’s Tanqueray Heads West
We made our first trip to the Jubilee Regional Morgan Horse Show in Springfield, IL, six years ago with Tanqueray‘s first foal. Next week, Tanqueray will set his feet in the ring at Jubilee for the first time. We are excited to spend time at this history-filled show that has so many beautiful and talented Morgans. It has been a great summer for Partridge Hill Stable, as we have enjoyed hearing about his beautiful foals that have been born across the U. S., and watching his junior offspring bring home several Championships under saddle. Tanqueray loves visitors. We do, too. Please stop by if you’re at the show. Carol, Ashley, Hayden…and our good friend Laurie will make the trip, too.
Show Ring Attire

Since we’re on the topic of show ring clothes I thought I’d ask a question I’ve been wondering for a while. Generally I’m not a Saddleseat rider, but a few years ago, I was showing a gelding in the Classic division. I was borrowing Saddle Seat Suits from a Tennessee Walking Horse Owner friend of mine, which was fine accept at that time, they wore alot of colorful day coats. So, that being said I finally had a coat custom made *by my mom – ha ha. The coat is actually pretty nice, but the fabric I chose is a pinky/peach color (it’s not irredescent)! I know it sounds hideous, but paired with a nice vest (grey)? shirt and coordinating jods, I think it would look fine. My question to you is – am I delusional? What colors and trends are popular in Saddle Seat classes these days? I’m noticing alot of non-colors like grey, blue and black. Could I get away with my peach/pink coat if I decide to show SS again?

Just a shout out to anyone who will be at Jubilee. I’m going to be there with my baby girl (equine baby of course). She’s going to be showing in the weanling in-hand and futurity classes. I’ll probably be hanging around Brian Hadley’s stalls whenever I’m not ringside. Feel free to stop by and say hi!

Darling Hunter/Western Gelding for sale by Ultra’s Special Agent

BLF Mission Impossible (Ethan) is going great as a hunter and is now started western. Ethan has been to several class “A” shows and placed very well. He is a true 14.3. Ethan is a beautiful gelding with a to die for face. He loves people and is a joy to be around. We think he would be a great 13 and under mount as a hunter. With just a bit more training, he could really excel as a western mount too. Ethan would also be cute as a classic horse. He would fit in well as a lesson horse but is so pretty it would be a shame not to show him. Ethan is six years old and priced very well to the right home. We love this guy and you will too! Please email jbdenning@hotmail.com for pics.
Need ride to OKC?
Author: stretchAug 19
I will be driving my motor home from southeastern Wisconsin to OKC. Leaving Oct 7th to arrive Oct.9. If you don’t mind the extra day of travel, the price is right (free). My plans are flexible and I can take either the eastern route through St. Louis, or the western alternative along Hwy 35. I can meet up with you along the way. There are folks staying with me in OKC so I can not offer accommodations at the show. A return ride is possible, leaving on Sunday Oct. 18. If you don’t mind traveling with my dogs, you are welcome. If interested, please e-mail me privately.
I am also off to Jubilee on September 1st if anyone needs a ride there.
