New to this blogg

Hello

I am new to this blog but have enjoyed reading posting on this site.  I love Morgans and have been envolved for over 30 years.  I enjoy a beautiful Park horse properly done.  I noticed all the comments about Centerpiece on this site.

I love the Masterpiece line.  They posess grace, beauty, and conformation.  Few lines have as much talent and balance.  I believe he has already made his mark on the history of the breed.

Leaving a barn/trainer

This is too  address when clients leave your barn and encourage others to leave also. This especially applies when they do not discuss their issues with you before hand.   What would you do if they come to pick up their horse with no warning and leave a bill.  Especially if they come to pick up their horses before you usually arrive for lessons and again have not discussed their being a problem.   These are people who are winning at shows and doing really well.  I don’t get it. I have had clients leave with a notice and a discussion and they are still friends and have come back as clients.  Those who leave otherwise seam to feel quilty and talk you down to everyone who will listen and then try to encourage others to leave.  How would you handle this without hard feelings  on either side.

I think a good discussion of this issue is needed as a continuation of a discussion earlier this year.

Kyova Results

Has anyone seen the show results for Kyova?  If so, where are they posted?

Several horses for sale

With the coming of our new baby and complications within my pregnancy, we have decided to greatly change some things.  The sale of some may change the sale status on others.

Kerry Top Hat (Kerry Freedom x Kerry Aria) Known for his firey maned pictures, this 6 yr old stallion has already sired some beautiful babies.  Topper is easy to handle in every way.  He has been trained for AI, hand bred and pasture bred.  He has been trail ridden and is currently in training to be finished for the show ring.   He would make an awesome kids horse if gelded.  $5000.00

Imeldas New Shoes (Tedwin Topic x Southbrook Rebecca Ann) Mel is a beautiful mare with a wonderful personality.  She stands well for everything from the vet, farrier, to the trimmers.  Hauls wonderfully both with another horse or alone.  She is great in the herd, kind of middle of the totem pole and is a wonderful mother.  Easy breeder, she took first breeding on her foal heat last year.  She presented us with a beautiful bay colt his spring and is open for someone elses stallion choice.  She has been started under saddle but not finished.  I had intentions of finishing her myself but with my pregnancy, my doctor has grounded me from riding.   $3000.00
Perfecta Elise (Equinox Adage x Mt Pleasant Michelle) This mare is as elegant as they come.  She has a sweet personality but can be timid due to past abuse.  She has produced a wonderful black colt for us that we are retaining.  She is being rebred to our Flaxen stallion  Kerry Top Hat for a Michigan futurity foal for 2010. $4000.00

“Bruiser” (BDM Border Ryder x Imeldas New Shoes) This sweet gelding is going to be a show stopper for someone.  He stands to be tied, is good for the farrier and is an all around easy boy to handle.  He loves to be scratched and will search out our kids for any extra attention.  Don’t miss out on a great chance to add some color to your farm.  $1500.00

Kerry Airalee (Serendipity Aries B X Kerry Cailin) This beautiful bay mare is a full sister to our stallions sire, Kerry Freedom.  She is started under saddle and showing the brains that go with her beauty.  She stands well in the cross-ties, is good for the farrier, etc.  Please feel free to contact us for further information. $1000.00

5/09 bay colt (Kerry Top Hat x Imelda’s New Shoes).  This little bay guy is smart, sweet and all morgan.  He is already leading and picking his feet up well.  He is starting his training to tie.   $1500.00

Pictures on most and more information can be seen on our website www.over-timemorgans.com .  Please feel free to contact us with any questions. We are located in Northwestern Illinois, just minutes from Iowa.

AboveLevel.com has a new look!  I have officially transferred the blog from BlackEyeBeth’s servers and updated the look.  Not all previously supported features will be available right away.  Please email admin@abovelevel.com if you notice any problems with the blog, or if you notice any missing features you would like me to bring back.

You know you’re a…

Horse Person When….

  • 1- For every 10 sets of new shoes your horse gets, you get maybe one.
  • 2- You are totally grossed out by human hair in the sink or tub, but don’t mind horse hair in your washer, on your clothes, or in your food.
  • 3- You can’t imagine why anyone would think it kinky to own whips and spurs.
  • 4- You are unreasonably pleased to get a horse item, ANY horse item, as a gift. “They really cared!!!”
  • 5- You drive by ANY field ANYWHERE and look very hard for horses.
  • 6- You lunge your dog and notice that he/she listens to you better.
  • 7- Your truck looks like a tack-shop bomb exploded in it.
  • 8- If you have ever seriously freaked out a ‘non-horsey’ friend with an A.I. breeding conversation over your cell phone with the stallion owner.
  • 9- On rainy days, you organize the tack room, not the house.
  • 10- You stop channel surfing at Budweiser Clydesdale commercials.
  • 11- You say “whoa” to your truck/car.
  • 12- You’ll let your trainer get after you all day, but will cut off your boss’ head if he looks at you funny.
  • 13- You choose which clothes to buy on the basis of whether you can wash horse slobber/manure out of them and if hay or sawdust will stick to them.
  • 14- You use baling twine to repair non-horse-related things.
  • 15- Your trainer and vet are the only non-family on your speed-dial.
  • 16- You’ve ever commented on your barn cat loping on the wrong lead.
  • 17- Your doctor doesn’t bother to ask how you got hurt anymore.
  • 18- The ONLY pictures in your office are of your horses.
  • 19- You go on a diet, not to be more attractive, but to be a better rider.
  • 20- And finally, you know you’re a horse person if you answered “yes” to even ONE of these!

I know these can be kind of stupid, but this one actually made me smile…

Hope everyone had a good Memorial Day weekend!!

22″ Freedman Stake Night with adjustable bars and an adjustable tree. In excellent condition – very little use. It is a flat seat,  not an equitation seat.  Sadly must sell, as it doesn’t fit my mare correctly :( Please email ( inmotion@rogers.com ) for photos or additional information.  Thank you!

Kely McFaul

Kelly McFaul, secretary to many Morgan shows including one of Oklahoma’s secretaries, was just named as one of the top ten show secretaries in the country by USEF! She is the only secretary that does Morgan shows that was honored. For those that know Kelly, this is no surprise;) For those that don’t, she is not only incredibly efficient, but she is an absolute pleasure to deal with when in the office! Unfortunately for me, we don’t go to as many of Kelly’s shows as I’d like, but, a great show secretary can make a trainer’s job ALOT nicer and Kelly does that. SO…if you are fortunate enough to go to one of her shows, you might just congratulate her and count yourself lucky that she’s in the office!!:)
