The weather outside is frightful…

Since we’re going to have single digit temperatures for a while here in New England, I was wondering if anyone had a rule of thumb that they use for working horses in cold weather. Thank you!

  1. lots and lots of warming up and cooling down, we dont generally work horses when its below 10 degrees. we’ll either hand walk or (if they can behave themselves) turn out in the arena for some playtime.

Thank you Carley – that’s helpful.

    Ride somewhere that’s heated :)

If it’s too cold and there’s no heating available, don’t work horses. No use freezing both you and them.
