This year, in order to get an original looking hunt coat, I’ve decided to attempt to make my own. I have a pattern for the coat and some ideas as to what I want the color scheme to be but I’m having trouble finding material for the jacket. I know it needs to be some kind of wool blend but I can’t find any places that have a good selection of fabrics for a hunt coat. I was wondering if anyone knew of a place to buy nice fabric that could be used for a jacket, preferably something online but I live in New England if anyone knows of someplace on the East Coast.

Here is a link to Hancock Fabrics. I have shopped there before and they also sell on-line. They have a higher quality of suitings, which I think you would like. http://www.hancockfabrics.com/Suitings_stcVVcatId538916VVviewcat.htm
I know nothing about this place, but they have a lot of suitings. They do say you can order swatches(check the FAQ) http://www.fashionfabricsclub.com/catalog_items.aspx?TypID=6&Viewby=Types&Page=1
Good luck. I made my daughter a couple hunt coats. I experimented with cheap fabric first to make sure everything fit nice before doing it for real.
