We took 3 horses to Southern States and had a pretty good show.

Our 3yr old filly Sevati made her pleasure driving debut and we were tickled pink with her. She earned a solid 2nd in a really nice class. She’s by Stand and Deliver and out of our I Will Command/Superman/Funquest mare. She didn’t show back as our trainer had a 4yr old in the Championship already (and earned the Reserve title!!) but she should be headed for New England next. Our really good friend Brittany Young is leasing my mom’s classic pleasure horse Wintop’s Prince Charles and has been doing great with him since last year when she earned a Res. GN title. They won the Jr. Exhibitor Classic Saddle class, and opted out of the Championship to go for the big money in the Open Classic Saddle Championship and earned a great 3rd. We are so proud of her! Not bad for a 15 yr old going against the big girls & boys. 

Then I showed my English Pleasure Gelding in the Amateur class. It was um…..fun lol. The qualifier was really good we worked worked through a lot of things that we had troubles with last year, but he got a little jumpy of course in front of the judge so we got 5th. Then the championship was amazing until we got into the ring, hehe. He was wayyyy on edge and when he saw the ingate he decided he wanted to canter around the ring the whole first way lol, then bounced around, then 2 people would bang on the rail once we finally started trotting so he’d scoot out from under me and start cantering again. lol it was a crazy 13 horse class. He was a bit of a turd, but eh it happens, that’s why I love him

Next stop…….Mid-A

This is sort of a silly question but I need to know what the blog users like and don’t like.  I posted a few videos today and left the sound on them even though they had some of our commentary on them.  I thought it was sort of fun to listen to what is going on (even though I sound sort of stupid on them).

Do you like the informal aspect or would you rather have me edit out the sound?  Just let me know what you like and feel free to comment here.

Here is some video of one of the upcoming Morgan horsewomen.   This is Christen Beard on her buckskin Morgan mare, Elfondo’s Sinful Summer.  Summer has only been working since Jan’08 and Christen is 13yrs old and has done 98% of  Summer’s training herself. With some coaching now and then.  This was Christen and Summer’s first show.  They rec 2nd pl in Novice Trail, 3rd pl in Hunter Hack, 5th Pl in Hunter Pleasure Youth and 7th Pl in Jr Ex Hunter Pleasure.  Mom is very, very proud of her!

Here are the video’s of my first two rides at Michigan Showtime.  I am on White Christmas.  He is owned by Steve and Annette Smith, who have been gracious enough to let me show him while I get my “show legs” back. 

 As you can see from the first video, Blackie and I have not come to much understanding in the ways of the show ring.  We had different ideas on what he was suppose to be doing at any given moment.  However, perseverance paid off and we looked MUCH better in the second class (unfortunately, I was the only one in it).   By the Championship (no video of that one) we were able to come onto more common ground and actually got 3rd in a 7 horse class.  We were quite proud of ourselves (truth be told, I am STILL on cloud 9!)

(again, you will have to excuse Mocha’s commentary.  As you can tell, everybody was trying to help me as much as possible.  God knows I needed it! )

Here is another video shot at Michigan Showtime.  It is of my mare, Ultra’s My Girl, in the English Pleasure Championship.   She is being ridden by trainer, Shirley O’Gorman.  This was My Girl’s first show under saddle.  She was recovering from a torn suspensory for the last year and a half so this was quite a thrill for me.  I was so excited to watch her that I forgot that I was suppose to go help strip her!   I heard line them up from head to tail and said “Oh ..(insert bad word)…!  I forgot!”  I had to run down as fast as I could and almost just jumped the railing.  Luckily I made it in time but took a good amount of ribbing for the rest of the afternoon!

Here is a video of Cum Laude Nell driven by owner, Diane Garrow at the Michigan Showtime Morgan Show.  The class is the Pleasure Driving Amateur Championship.  Although Nell placed third, she did outstanding for her first show for 2008!  (Please excuse my commentary during the video…I always forget the camera is on!)
