My “Shout It Out” For Tonight

This has been bugging me for awhile:  WHO was the first person who figured out a horse’s reaction to ginger?  HOW did they figure this out in the first place? And, more importantly don’t you think SOMEBODY had to have done a little personal research to figure that out???????

  1. I have no idea what may have given anyone the idea to try putting ginger ointment where the sun don’t shine, but what I find hilarious is, back when it was illegal to use it, how did anyone think that they were going to prove tha that horse had been gingered? Smell? Taste? What?

  3. Well, that’s why the rule was dropped, because it was unenforceable. I helped to work on an inexpensive way to try and detect it, but was unsuccessful. While it isn’t particularly “painful” in the TWH soring sense of the word, it probably isn’t pleasant; I choose not to participate in the practice. Either a horse holds its tail up or it doesn’t. Fortunately, I don’t think this has ever changed a ribbon for my horses, we’ve generally placed where I thought we should be. Now, if just a few BNTs would do the same….. JMNSHO

  4. I followed your post until the very end. I am sort of non-”text message generation”. I figures out TWH and JMNSHO but what does BNT’s mean? Sorry, i am kind of dense sometimes!
