Does anyone know anything about the status of the Lancaster Super Morgan show in Lincoln, Nebraska? They don’t have any information on the site for 2010 and I’ve tried emailing both contacts with no response.

I am frustrated with the PRO-AM horse show, and would like others input on this. I have a ten year old that is brand new to walk trot canter. The horse show only offers an Open Hunter Pleasure and a Morgan Hunter Pleasure. I talked with two other GA Morgan trainers and combined between just the three of us – We have a total of eight Junior Exhibitor hunt riders. Three of which are BRAND NEW into cantering. I called and asked if they could add a junior exhibitor qualifier and championship. I also told them that we would be happy to SPONSOR the classes. The Vice President of the horse show told us ABSOLUTELY NOT. She said she would not add classes after the prize list was made , no matter if we were going to sponsor them or if it was a safety issue. She said the young riders could just go in the 12 and under walk trot.
I told her that I could not have my clients fly in from michigan to come to a show that wont offer anything for them to go into. She said she was sorry if she was being ‘ rank ‘ but they would not do it. How frustrating!
I feel like in a time of economic crisis in the horse world they would be doing what they could to get more entries and to make horse shows successful. We would be sponsoring an eight horse junior exhibitor hunter pleasure and equitation class. Wheres the logic behind this? Why would a horse show NOT want to do this?
We will not be going to the ProAm held in Perry, GA this year – and most likely will not ever return to it. The show was very unhelpful. I dont understand how they plan on getting more Morgans to come to the show if they wont even accommodate the existing ones.
Any imput on this would be great. Thank you – Bre Schultz Northern Winds Stable

If anyone is in the East Aurora, NY area contact the SPCA if you are able to help. I am sure they will need financial assistance as well as hay, grain, etc. to take care of this rescue. They may need additional stabling for horses as their facility cannot house this many horses. They also rescued 53 cats. I know the Morgan people are all willing to help and lend a hand in times of crisis and to the best of my knowledge, these were all Morgans.

Just wanted to thank those who commented on my post about being new to the morgan circuit & shoeing for western pleasure. Your input & advice was very helpful, I really appreciated it.Didn’t know how else to get back to you aside from another post like this. ? Thanks again!
I am posting to let the Above Level and Morgan community know that this morning James B. Stewart (Jim) passed away. Jim and his family have owned Lookaway Farm, Medina, Ohio for many years, and have produced and trained many champion Morgan horses.
The Stewart family asked me to help let the Morgan community know of his passing and appreciates everyone’s condolences and sympathy. They do ask, however, that they not be contacted at this time. Once the details of his funeral have been finalized the information will be made public, including here on Above Level.
Jim was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend to many. He will be greatly missed.
Hello, I am new to “Above Level”. Actually pretty new to the Morgan Circuit. I have a Morgan gelding I love dearly! We have worked very hard together (without a trainer) to get to the point I think we may be ready to try the Morgan circuit. I feel some pressure that we might be at a disadvantage already for not going to the shows with a trainer. From what I have seen it seems like most riders do have a trainer, or even have a trainer riding their horse. That being said, my primary focus is western pleasure. I have my horse shod with just “regular” horse shoes. When he is home he is a “normal” horse, out to pasture, trail riding etc… But My daughter and I would also like to show him hunt seat. It seems like the hunt horses are mostly shod with special shoes & pads. I have read the rule book regarding shoeing. It specifies that shoes aren’t even required. But that length of toe in Western Pleasure or Hunt Seat shall not be longer that 5″. So my question is firstly, what is the “typical” or standard way of shoeing a Morgan Western Pleasure horse? Secondly, from a judges point of view will we be discriminated against in the hunter classes if he is not shod the same as most of the other horses with shoes, pads etc…? Thanks for any information on this subject!
